Rosehill has broken down their custom cabinets into three distinct lines: Portico, Market Street and Summit. Each has their own place within the cabinet marketplace. In our previous blog post, we highlighted the Portico line. With this post, we’ll introduce you to the Market Street cabinet line and will follow up with a final post that highlights the Summit line of cabinets.
Market Street is Rosehill’s fully custom cabinet line and has been its most popular cabinet line since 1993. By fully custom, we mean that your cabinets are designed specifically to fit your kitchen. You do not need to select from certain cabinet box sizes to create your kitchen layout. Your layout will, instead, determine the sizes of your cabinets. That means no spacers between cabinets and no limitations to cabinet heights, widths or depths.
The ability to customize with the Market Street line of cabinets is not limited to the layout. Door styles and finishes can be customized, as well, to match or accent your homes interior design and decor. Specialty detailing can be added, too, such as custom cornices and corbels. Our kitchen designers are accustomed to transforming a list of wants and needs into a functional and beautiful kitchen design that fulfills the hopes and desires of each client.

Rosehill is excited to introduce its three lines of cabinetry to suit every budget and dream. Separating our cabinets into three distinct lines enables us to work together with our clients to find the perfect balance between personality, lifestyle and budget, as we design and build the kitchen they are looking for. Since the differences between the three cabinet lines that we offer are subtle ones, we thought we’d make use of our blog to help our customers understand what those differences are.
The three lines of cabinetry that Rosehill offers are: Portico, Market Street and Summit. Each has their own distinction. In this blog post, we highlight the Portico line and will follow up with additional posts that highlight the other two lines, Market Street and Summit.
Portico is Rosehill’s semi-custom cabinet line. This means that a Portico kitchen can be customized to fit almost any kitchen layout and design, but there are a few limitations which keep it from being labeled a fully customizable cabinet line like our other two cabinet lines, Market Street and Summit.
Portico cabinets are custom built by Rosehill and meet CKCA quality standards. They are not mass produced like some of the bigger cabinet lines, but provide our clients with similar selections as they might have viewed in displays of larger cabinet manufacturers or at some of the big-box stores. With Portico, you can easily transfer ideas you may have picked up elsewhere into custom built cabinetry and still fit into your kitchen budget.
Kids rooms can easily become cluttered with clothes, toys, books and games. When their room is a mess, it may be frustrating for the parents, but it also becomes less functional for the kids.
Teaching kids to put things away and keep their room clean can be an ongoing battle, but there are ways to make it easier for them. Providing specific storage areas for different types of items can help provide some organization and make cleanup a little easier for the kids.
Custom cabinet built-ins are one great way to accomplish this. A built-in window seat or bed can be custom designed to have drawers in the bottom for storage of clothes or toys. A built-in desk area with open shelving above, provides a designated workspace and takes items up off the floor and onto shelves on the wall. Narrow pencil drawers and deeper file drawers can be included in the desk to keep school and art supplies organized.
Custom closet organizers can make the most out of a kid’s closet space. Bins can be part of the custom closet for holding craft items or a collection of Barbie dolls. Shelves can be custom sized for stacking games and puzzles. The dress-up clothes can have their own closet space, separate from a girl’s regular wardrobe.
Knowing that everything has its own place can make it much easier for kids to return things to their proper storage area, when it’s time to clean up. If you’d like more ideas about how to better organize your kid’s bedrooms or play areas, we’d be happy to help.

Spending some time thinking through your closet storage needs can be helpful in improving your closet organization. Are shoes cluttering the closet floor? How much hanging space do you really need for full-length items? Could you use some deep bins or would narrow drawers be more efficient for your accessory items?
List out the different types of items you need to fit into your closet and the type of storage you’d like for each item: hanging rod, narrow drawers, open shelves, etc. Once you’ve done this, a cabinet designer can help you put everything together into a closet custom designed for you.
By breaking up your closet space into compartments, you can fully utilize all the space from floor to ceiling. You can also arrange your items so that the things you use the most often are the most accessible, and the ‘occasional’ items are making use of the perimeter space of the closet.
With a better organized closet, you’ll find that you can actually fit more into your closet than you could before. It will also be easier to locate the items you are looking for when each part of your wardrobe has its own designated space.

Are their unknown ‘things’ hiding in your closet? Do you shudder every time you open the door because the ‘clutter monster’ has taken it over? Unfortunately, many of us find us in this situation from time to time. Sometimes it is because we are trying to fit too much into one closet, but many times, we just need a more organized system in our closet to make better use of the space.
Providing divisions within your closet space is a great way to accomplish this. Built-in cubbies for shoes keep them from becoming a heap on the floor. Narrow drawers for small items like scarves and socks, means you won’t need to dig through your items to find what you are looking for. Two-tiered hanging rods for your shorter items are a much better use of space than one rod that spans the entire closet. Open shelves are the best way to keep your sweaters neatly stacked and easily available, and when you enclose those shelves behind beautiful closet doors, they are more likely to stay neat and tidy.
Wouldn’t you rather have a closet that was fun and exciting to open each morning, than one that created a sense of dread? Our closet organization system can turn that scary closet into something you will want to show off to your friends.
There has been a trend towards more open shelving in modern kitchens. As with any design element, there are pros and cons for both going with upper cabinets or the open shelving.
Open Shelving
Pros
- Enlarges the feel of a small kitchen.
- Versatile display area.
- Ease of redecorating.
Cons
- Requires dusting.
- Less storage than cabinets.
- Can become cluttered and unattractive.
Upper Cabinets
Pros
- Creates a clean finished look.
- Hides non-decorative storage.
- Protects contents from dust and grease.
Cons
- More expensive than shelving.
- Can make a room feel smaller.
- Top cabinet shelves may be difficult to access.
For a small tidy kitchen, open shelves can be a definite plus, giving it a more open feel. For maximum storage and easy maintenance, the upper cabinets are still your best choice. Ultimately, it is your lifestyle and the size of your kitchen that will determine which is the choice for you.
The classic white kitchen is truly a timeless choice that never loses its appeal. It is the versatility of the dominant white background that makes it so popular. White fits with any décor style or color scheme.
You can add bright splashes of color with floral prints and dinnerware to make a bright colorful kitchen that is full of energy. Not your style? Use black as your main accent color in the countertop or flooring, then choose a sharp highlight color, like red or green, and you’ve created a bold clean look.
White isn’t limited to bold accents. Pastel colors will soften the white and give a warm country kitchen look. A butcherblock wood top on a center island works well to add to that softer look. Hardwood flooring also provide a warm finish to a white kitchen.
Perhaps you like a clean modern look. Smooth white doors with stainless steel finishes on light fixtures and appliances can achieve this for you. Sleek lines and minimalist decorating will give a sheik elegance. White on white is another option. Texture, layers and glass doors can turn simple white into a flow of beauty.
When you make the statement, “I’d like a white kitchen”, it can conjure up any number of images, depending on your tastes in design. A simple tour through our gallery pictures will attest to that. Classic white kitchen? ALWAYS a good choice.
Combining your laundry and mudroom into one space is a great example of value driven design. It is one of the most practical choices for a dual function room. In order for any dual function room to work well, it requires some careful planning and organization. The first step in this planning process is to identify the activities that will take place in this room and the types of items that will be stored there.
Since it is a laundry room, there will obviously be a washer and dryer in the room that will require utility hookups. The size and type of appliances will also need to be considered, along with the best location in the floor plan. If you want to include ironing in the plan, a fold-down ironing board, concealed in a wall cabinet can be a good choice. You’ll also need to plan for storage cabinets for laundry supplies. Upper wall cabinets are often the choice for these items. It keeps them out of the reach of small children.
Once this is established, it is time to begin looking at the rest of the room and how it will be used. As a mudroom, a seating area for removing shoes and boots should be included. This can be a built-in bench with storage underneath, or it might be a piece of furniture. You’ll also want coat hooks or a closet for hanging jackets.
After these items are established it is time to look at storage for other items that you will want to access from the backyard. It may include things like children’s yard toys, gardening gloves and winter wear. Storage cabinets can help keep all these things organized and easy to find. Proper planning of your cabinet layout will keep your laundry/mudroom from becoming cluttered and make it one of the most functional rooms in your home.
Less is more? Less what? Less curves for one thing. Crisp clean lines define the new country kitchen look. Mission styled flat panel doors instead of raised panels. Square cut backsplashes and countertops and minimal cabinet molding, if any.
Open shelving and cubby holes give an old-world European feel to these kitchens. A combination of natural wood tones with earthy grays make good choices for the new country kitchen. And the finishes will be matt instead of glossy. Everything about this look speaks to practicality, but still has an urban flair to it.
To finish off the look, the pulls and drawer hardware will have simple functional styling and pewter will be a top choice for the finish. Glass doors, that are a standard in the traditional country kitchen, won’t be a part of this design scheme. Open shelving and cubby holes will be used instead to show off dishware and stainless steel cookware. These open air displays give an old-world European feel to these kitchens.
For sleek modern styling, that still has a rustic flair to it, the new country kitchen look will fit your tastes perfectly.
